Radio from my home town

Hello, Wasabie crew! By the way, wasabi dressing seems to be getting very popular these days. I had some on a salad last night. But today I want to tell you about a radio program I like. I grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, where the local NPR station is KCUR FM. One Sunday night when I was packing to return to Tokyo, I had the radio on in the background. It was a program of 'New Age' music--I wasn't especially interested but I left it on as background music (BGM). The show is on for four hours--8 PM to midnight. The music began to get better and better. The fourth hour is usually the most meditative--often it is 'space electronic ambient.' You can listen in real time (in Tokyo it is 10:00 AM to 2:00PM on Mondays). There is also a big archive with listings of the titles and musicians. Here is the link for the program:
http://www.kcur.org/nighttides.html

The 'deejay' (is that the right term?) is Renee Blanche. She is very kewl and has a page on Facebook. She only talks for a short time in each 30-minute segment, so you won't get much English practice. But you can enjoy great meditative music. Here is a 'mandala' from the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. for you to meditate on (please supply your own incense).

Sunset from Odaiba

I got to Odaiba late in the afternoon. The skyline of Tokyo was a nice silhouette against the setting sun. You can also see Rainbow Bridge.

There is also a Statue of Liberty in Odaiba. I used to think that this was just a small cheap copy, but I found out that it is an exact copy of the statue as it exists in France. Maybe the one in France was the model from which the colossal statue presented to the US was made. Anyway, it looks very good. The statue in the US faces out, welcoming ships to New York Harbor. The one in Odaiba faces inland, welcoming sightseers on foot.

Hello, everybody! My first post!

I think Tokyo is one of the coolest places in the world. The other day I went to Odaiba, which is a newly-developed area of Tokyo Bay. To get there, you can ride the Yurikamome rail line, which passes over the Rainbow Bridge. The train is completely operated by computers--there are no crew members running the train. Also, the train runs on rubber tires rather than on rails, so it is relatively quiet. On the other hand, the cars are a bit small in scale, so they seem a bit cramped.

I will post more about my trip to Odaiba later.

See ya!

The day was low tide water so there were some young fishes , anemones, shrimps crabs, and many kinds shells in small water pocket on the rock. so I tried to catch them with my hands then I made a little aquariumWelcome to my little aquarium♥

They are so small but they have zest for living in big big big ocean!I was so impressed.By the way , in the aquarium, one of baby fish disappeared ,when I realized. I thought a crab ate it. Also I saw law of the water in short time. Oh... this is "The weaker goes to the pot"

I don't know enough words to tell what I want to say,but I will try to do in my best :)

The Kentucky Derby

Last weekend, I went to Kentucky with some friends for the weekend. We went because we wanted to go to the Kentucky Derby. In case you don't know, the Kentucky derby is a horse racing event that happens every year and only happens in Louisville, Kentucky. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kentucky_Derby) <--go there if you want to know more about the Derby

The first day we got there we bought all kinds of Kentucky beer and liquor. When I saw that they sold a beer called "horse piss beer" I just had to try. You're probably thinking, "Does it really taste like horse piss?" Well actually no it didn't. Actually, it was the best tasting beer I had in Kentucky.ほんとうにおいしい。 I wish I had bought some more.
The next day was the big event. We were all excited to go the Derby and get drunk but there was a problem. It started to rain.あめがふりました Even though it was raining we still had to go because it was the reason we came there. So we went and sure enough it started to rain harder but even so there were a lot of people there and some still dressed up in summer dresses for the event.

We started to drinking a famous Kentucky drink called Mint Julep. It a sweet tasting drink mixed with bourbon. It was really good and after a few I was already started to feel a little drunk. I walked around looking for things to that pictures of but the heavy rain made it almost impossible so I gave up after taking a few more. This guy's costume was pretty cool.おもいしろい

This horse wasn't in the race but I liked it. うまですよ!
My friends muddy feet. lol It didn't stop raining the whole day until last race. It stopped and then the sun came out. A little bit too late I thought since I was soaking wet. Luckly I didn't get a cold.

After the race we all headed home tired and wet. Once we got home I took a shower and went to bed. The next day I had a huge hangover. We packed out thing and left. Even though it rained most of the time, Kentucky was a great time. I think I will go again next year. Hopefully, it wont rain next time.
