やきゅうとあめ

Oh, it's been a while huh? How come nobody posts anymore? Anyway....

Well about a month ago. I went to a baseball game with some of my friends. (I got a free ticket :-D) It was a pretty nice night to just sit back and drink some cold beers.

We were all enjoying the game when suddenly it started to get cloudy and dark really fast. All of the sudden it started to rain really hard. It wasn't just rain too but wind and lightning start to hit. It was blowing the rain everywhere.
Luckily, out seats were right underneath a balcony so we didn't get wet. Here are some videos i took with my iphone 4.

And here is a video of my friend being drunk and challenging a girl to a dance contest. Enjoy!

I stopped into the Tokyo flagship Mitsukoshi department store in Nihonbashi. In the central atrium is something you can see only at this store. It is a huge, elaborately carved statue of a kind of 'goddess' called Magokoro. Some people might suspect it is something Buddhist, but I am not sure. Perhaps it is not directly related to any religion; I think it is a symbol of the store management's desire to serve customers well and succeed in business. It actually feels a bit Chinese in its elaborate decoration. But that is not the only interesting thing here. There is also a pipe organ. It is a Wurlitzer pipe organ, which was very popular in movie theaters in the old days. Mitsukoshi purchased the instrument in 1930. It is played three times a day, at 10:00AM, 12:00 noon and 3:00PM--I heard this one. A young lady played for about 15 minutes: a Bach chorale, Elgar's Greeting of Love, something from an opera (I didn't hear the announcement so clearly) and the theme from Gone with the Wind. A nice place to go if you have had too much rap, drum&bass, heavy metal, etc.

ギターがすきです

I love rock music, so naturally I wanted to learn how to play an instrument. I think I picked guitar because it's easy to play and I love the way it sounds. I remember the first time I played a guitar was in Mexico. My cousin had a classical guitar and I would play with it all the time. After that I decided to learn how to play. The first guitar I bought was a cheap $80 acoustic guitar which I still have and play to this day. Everyday after school I would play until my fingers hurt and even though it didn't sound so good I really enjoyed it. I mostly learned on my own by reading books and watching videos. I never learned how to read music. Most of the time I would just listen to a song and then play it by ear. I put a bunch of stickers on there as you can see.

After a year, I decided to buy an electric guitar. After looking at several guitars, I bought a Fender Stratocaster. I immediately fell in love with its wide range of tones and sounds. Not to mention that it was very comfortable and has a very clean sound to it. I also bought this lighting bolt strap because my favorite guitar player has one.

Then I decided it was time to upgrade my acoustic guitar. After playing many acoustic guitars, I bought the Takamine EAN10C electric/acoustic guitar. This Japanese made guitar has a built in tuner and equalizer so I can plug it into an amp. This guitar makes every song I play sound so beautiful.

Finally, I decided it was time for another electric as well but with so many guitars out there I didn't know which one to buy. It wasn't until I played a Gibson SG that I knew this would be my next guitar. It has a bright crisp tone much like what British musicians like to play. It just so happens that a friend of mine was selling one for cheap which was even better. It's not as comfortable as my stratocaster but it is much lighter.

To this day I still play guitar for fun. To me playing guitar is like the soul speaking but with 6 strings. Check out some of my videos on youtube at: http://www.youtube.com/user/toukyonights
